01

Before Your Appointment

Please avoid a heavy meal before and after your treatment. Have a light snack a few hours beforehand, if you can - it is not recommended to have acupuncture on an empty stomach. Wear loose and comfortable clothing.

02

Your Initial Consultation

Your first appointment begins with a thorough consultation lasting around 20–30 minutes. Larissa will ask about your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, sleep, digestion, and emotional wellbeing. She'll also use traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic methods, including pulse reading and tongue observation, to build a complete picture of your health.

03

Your Treatment

Based on your consultation, Larissa will explain her findings and proposed treatment plan. The acupuncture itself involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on your body. Most people find the experience deeply relaxing, many drift off during treatment. Sessions typically last around 45–60 minutes in total.

04

After Your Treatment

You may feel deeply relaxed, calm, or gently energised after your session. It's a good idea to drink water, avoid strenuous activity, and give yourself a gentle evening. Some people notice immediate changes; for others, improvements build gradually over several sessions.

05

Your Treatment Plan

Larissa will discuss a recommended treatment plan with you, there is never any pressure or obligation. The number of sessions depends on your condition and how your body responds. She will always be honest about what she thinks will help and will adjust your plan as needed.

Common Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people re surprised by how gentle it feels. Acupuncture needles are incredibly fine, much thinner than injection needles. You may feel a mild tingling or warmth, but most people find treatment deeply relaxing.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your individual condition. Some concerns respond quickly; others benefit from a course of treatment. Larissa will always give you an honest recommendation and reassess as you progress.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal. Larissa may need access to your lower legs, arms, and abdomen, so clothing that can be easily adjusted is helpful.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. When performed by a qualified practitioner like Larissa, acupuncture is very safe. She uses sterile, single-use needles and follows strict safety and hygiene protocols as a member of the British Acupuncture Council.

Can I have acupuncture if I'm pregnant?

Yes. Acupuncture is widely used to support pregnancy and can help with many common pregnancy-related symptoms. Larissa has specific training and experience in treating pregnant women safely.
